DESCRIPTION:An Introduction to Keeping Dairy Goats\nFriday 9th October 2026 | 5.00pm–7.00pm | Hailsham\n£35 per person | Maximum 5 participants \nJoin the Topping family at their smallholding in Hailsham for a friendly\, practical introduction to keeping dairy goats. \nPerfect for anyone considering keeping dairy goats\, those who have recently started out\, or simply anyone who would like to learn more\, \nthis small-group evening will give you an opportunity to meet the goats and discover what is involved in caring for and milking your own dairy herd. \nWhat you'll learn\nDuring the evening\, the Topping family will share their experience and practical knowledge\, covering: \n\nDairy goat breeds and choosing the right goats\nHousing and everyday care\nFeeding and nutrition\nBreeding and kidding\nMilking and milk production\nThe realities — and rewards — of keeping dairy goats\n\nYou'll then get hands-on with the goats\, with a demonstration of milking using a mobile milking machine \nfollowed by the opportunity to have a go at hand-milking a goat yourself. \nFrom Two Goats to Marshcroft Goat Dairy\nThe Topping family's goat-keeping journey began with just two dairy goats\, originally kept to provide their family with fresh milk\, yoghurt and cheese. \nThey quickly discovered that goat keeping can be rather addictive! DESCRIPTION:Autumnal Posies\nDemonstration with Becky from Misty Acres Flowers including making your own posy to take home\nSFTG Member and local florist\, Becky\, will lead a workshop on floral arranging and a talk about what you can grow at home in order to have your own beautiful displays\nCourse content to include:\n* Annual Flowers - what to grow\, when and how to sow\, planting out\, plus harvesting\n* Jam jar posy arrangements (including making one to take home using Becky's beautiful home grown flowers)\n* How to create a hand tied bouquet using your garden flowers\nCome along and spend an evening learning about how to grow your own flowers to display in your home or gift to others. Each participant will take away a beautiful posy in a jar at the end of the evening (all materials included) which they will have created with Becky's expert guidance.\nEnjoy tea and cake too - maybe even a glass of fizz as you enjoy time with other flower lovers! No previous experience required\, just a desire to have a go and learn more about what you grow at home.\n \nThis event will take place on a working smallholding with animals and machinery. All attendees take responsibility for themselves whilst at the event. Please dress appropriately for the weather/venue as the event will be held in a barn and will go ahead in all weathers as long as it is safe to do so. \n\n  \n
