SUMMARY:Off The Line Vineyard Tour and Tasting event
DESCRIPTION:  \nYou are invited to join guided tour and tasting in Off The Line Vineyard in  Hellingly\,Hailsham  BN27 4EA.  \nThis event includes a 30-40 minute tour around the vineyard and winery followed by a wine tasting and delicious cheese or charcuterie board. Each board comes with a selection of local cheeses\, homemade focaccia bread\, homemade chutney\, and olives.One board is ample for two people. \nOff The Line Vineyard was established on a beautiful site in the Sussex Weald benefiting from south facing slopes. The site was prepared and the first vines planted in 2014. The focus being on growing Pinot Noir\, Regent\, Dornfelder and Rondo\, all red varieties\, that allow us to specialise in producing different styles of Rose.A further planting of vines was established in 2023\, to include; more Pinot Noir\, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. \nAfter tasting everyone is welcomed to stay as long as they wish and enjoy more wine and the beautiful view.  \nWe have created 2 tickets\, one with the Cheese board and one for just the tour\, so if you are coming with a partner and want to share a cheese board\, buy one of each ticket

SUMMARY:FRIDAY NIGHT TALK - SEPTEMBER - Heidi Greenwood - Grovelands School Farm
DESCRIPTION:This project changes children’s lives; the close interactions with our animals enables our children to feel calmer\, safer and more fulfilled. This farm gives our children opportunities\, it gives them career aspirations and enables them to believe in themselves more. It gives them the confidence to try new things\, to become more resilient and it supports them to regulate their often big emotions. \nOur farm gives our volunteers a sense of puropse\, it supports some of them with their mental health struggles too. \nFor our volunteer families\, it enables them to feel more connected with their children through this shared experience\, as well as feeling connected to their wider families and friends that join them. It brings me much joy to see the multi-generations work together to tend to our animals. \nOur BIG BUILD days truly brings our community together\, it’s where new friendships are formed\, where people feel a sense of shared accomplishment. DESCRIPTION:Poultry Rearing\, Dispatch & Processing  - Wednesday 7th October 2026 16:00 to 18:00\nAn informative talk and equipment demonstration with Esme Clifton\nFor many smallholders\, rearing chickens\, turkeys or ducks for the table is an important part of becoming more self-sufficient. \nHowever\, one of the biggest challenges can be knowing how to take that final step confidently\, correctly and with the highest possible regard for animal welfare. \nHaving worked in the poultry sector since her teenage years\, including 10 years on a free-range meat chicken farm\, \nEsme Clifton has a wealth of practical experience in poultry rearing\, dispatch and butchery. \nThrough working with smallholders\, she recognised just how difficult it can be to access poultry processing facilities and how many people would benefit from practical advice and support. \nIn response\, Esme created her own mobile poultry processing set-up\, with a specially equipped trailer containing everything \nneeded to take a home-reared bird through the process from dispatch to being fully dressed and ready for the freezer. \nFor this SFTG session\, Esme will bring along her equipment and explain what each piece is used for and how the process works from beginning to end. \nPlease note: this is an informative talk and equipment demonstration. No birds will be dispatched or processed during the session. \nEsme will cover topics including: \n\nChoosing and sourcing suitable poultry for meat\nRearing chickens\, ducks and turkeys for the table\nPreparing birds for processing\nHumane dispatch and the importance of good welfare\nThe equipment required and how it is used\nPlucking\, dressing and preparing birds for the freezer\nCommon problems and challenges and how to deal with them\nPractical considerations for the smallholder processing their own poultry\n\nThere will also be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and discuss your own experiences or concerns with Esme. \nWhether you're already raising poultry for meat\, considering doing so for the first time\, or simply want to understand more about the process \n before deciding whether it's for you\, this session offers a friendly and practical introduction based on genuine hands-on experience. \nA great opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence in one of the more challenging — but important — aspects of producing your own food. \n  \n  \nThis workshop will be running Wednesday 07.10.2026 16:00-18:00 in Chiddingly\nThere will be tea\, coffee and cake included \nTicket price £20

DESCRIPTION:Autumnal Posies\nDemonstration with Becky from Misty Acres Flowers including making your own posy to take home\nSFTG Member and local florist\, Becky\, will lead a workshop on floral arranging and a talk about what you can grow at home in order to have your own beautiful displays\nCourse content to include:\n* Annual Flowers - what to grow\, when and how to sow\, planting out\, plus harvesting\n* Jam jar posy arrangements (including making one to take home using Becky's beautiful home grown flowers)\n* How to create a hand tied bouquet using your garden flowers\nCome along and spend an evening learning about how to grow your own flowers to display in your home or gift to others. Each participant will take away a beautiful posy in a jar at the end of the evening (all materials included) which they will have created with Becky's expert guidance.\nEnjoy tea and cake too - maybe even a glass of fizz as you enjoy time with other flower lovers! No previous experience required\, just a desire to have a go and learn more about what you grow at home.\n \nThis event will take place on a working smallholding with animals and machinery. All attendees take responsibility for themselves whilst at the event.
